Ofer Canetti, cello

Ofer Canetti is an acclaimed Israeli-Portuguese cellist, recognized for his exceptional musicality and profound emotional expression. A graduate of the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Tel-Aviv and the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne, Ofer honed his artistry under the guidance of esteemed mentors, including Prof. Hillel Zori, Prof. Clemens Hagen at Mozarteum University in Salzburg, and Prof. Uzi Wiesel.

​Ofer has graced the stage as a soloist with renowned ensembles such as the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss, Georgisches Kammerorchester Ingolstadt, Jenaer Philharmonie, Moscow Chamber Orchestra of the Slobotkin Center, Haifa Symphony Orchestra, and the Salzburg Chamber Soloists. His debut at Carnegie Hall in 2010 marked the launch of a distinguished international career, featuring regular recitals across Europe.

As a recording artist, Ofer’s performances, both as a soloist and chamber musician, have been featured on prominent classical music stations including “Kol Hamusika,” SWR Stuttgart, and ORF Austria. He is celebrated for his emotional depth and is a sought-after soloist and chamber musician who continues to captivate audiences worldwide.

In addition to his role as principal cellist of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Ofer has made significant contributions to chamber music. He co-founded the Testore Quartet and has collaborated with esteemed ensembles like the Aviv Quartet and the Amar Quartet, performing at prestigious festivals around the world.

In 2024, Ofer focused on recording the complete works for cello by Paul Ben-Haim, a project set for release in 2025 in collaboration with SWR Radio and the Capriccio label.
